Our self-organization studies are motivated by numerous Hi-Tech applications of polymer blend films. In addition to technology attractive aspects of self-organization, specific domain structures obtained increase efficiency of various devices:

For instance, multilayer structure is used in efficient photodiodes and gas separation membranes.

Quasi 2-D domain arrangement is present in light emitting diodes with variable colours or in high performance anti-reflection coatings.

Patterned (with micro-contact printing) substrate is used in (ink-jet printed) all-polymer field transistors to keep separated phase regions of Source (S) and Drain (D).

In addition, self-organization processes related with micro-phase- (and not phase-) separation are used to create: tuneable photonic crystals, templates for nano-lithography (e.g. used to produce quantum dots), templates for magnetic nanowires.
