The Institute of Physics specializes in experimental and theoretical nuclear physics of low and high energies, solid state physics (semiconductors, magnetics, dielectrics, superconductors), soft matter physics (liquid crystals, polymers, biological systems), surface physics, phase transition physics, atomic optics (especially lasers, nonlinear optics, quantum optics and spectroscopy), molecular dynamics in condensed phases of matter and biological systems, processes of biomineralization in organisms, the structure of hadrons, high energy physics, elementary particles, the problem of chaos in physics, field theory, theory of relativity, and astrophysics.
