In our Department the studies of dielectric, electrooptic and thermal properties of new materials are being performed. Our research is focused on organic materials such as molecular crystals (liquid crystals and polymers) molecular magnets as well as alloys. Investigation of crystalline and electronic structure, dynamics of system as well as electrical, optical, magnetic and electrooptic properties are carrying out. The aim of our studies is to distinguish the fundamental lows describing properties of new materials what will help in the future to elaborate methods of production new materials with specific properties.

Liquid crystals are new state of mater, between crystalline and liquid states. They behave like liquids (fluency) as well as typical crystals (anisotropy of physical properties). In our group the studies of thermodynamic, dielectric and electrooptic properties of thermotropic liquid crystals (ferroelectric as well as antiferroelectric) are performed.
